New TB and HIV/AIDS project in Central Province

    JOHANNESBURG

    Residents of Zambia's Central Province are set to benefit from a new tuberculosis and HIV/AIDS project launched at the weekend, local newspaper The Post reported on Monday.

    A senior health official said the Tuberculosis Integrated Project in Eastern and Central Province (TIPEC) would help with the implementation of programmes aimed at controlling and managing TB and HIV/AIDS.

    "The TB and HIV/AIDS problem is still enormous and requires the commitment of everyone on efforts against it," Central Province health director, Dr Gavin Kasanda, said.

    Kasanda said TIPEC would, among other activities, train 42 health staff, 39 community volunteers from various clinics and 37 youths from clinics around the province.
