Tackle AIDS war head on - government

The Swazi government has allocated US $1.9 million to the country's National Emergency Response Committee on HIV/AIDS, local newspaper. Presenting the 2003/2004 budget last week, Minister of Finance, Majozi Sithole, said the money would cater for a comprehensive HIV/AIDS care and treatment plan. "The statistics are frightening ... We need to take this scourge head on before we are finished," Sithole said. According to statistics released by the Regional Food Security Assessment Report last month, 33,4 percent of Swaziland's population is affected by HIV/AIDS.
