A non-governmental organisation (NGO) on Thursday said it was still waiting on government to disburse money from a monthly HIV/AIDS levy.
The Southern Africa AIDS Information Dissemination Service (SafAIDS) said the government promised free antiretrovirals and treatment to HIV positive people through a three percent deduction from all employed Zimbabwean citizens.
"A National AIDS Council has been formed to disburse the funds and free treatment, but nothing has been done," SafAIDS media officer, Tariro Makanga, told the UN news service Plusnews.
Tariro urged NGOs to continue advocating until the government made a solid commitment to improve access to HIV/AIDS drugs for all people infected with the disease.
