Mozambican aluminium producer, MOZAL, says workers will not be forced to participate in a new HIV/AIDS testing programme, which is due to start Thursday.
"No employee may participate against their will as the main characteristic of this research programme is its voluntary nature," MOZAL communications officer Theresa Strapton told the UN news service PlusNews.
"It will not be possible to note the names or identify the workers participating in this research... even those participating will not know their own results," Strapton said.
In a press statement on Tuesday, MOZAL said the purpose of the research is to help the company plan and build support services for employees affected by HIV/AIDS.
