The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has approved the disbursement of US $11 million in support of Senegal's anti-poverty efforts after a positive review of the country's Poverty Reduction and Growth Facility.
The money would be used to improve on the "rapid growth and low inflation" that the West African nation has achieved in recent times, the fund reported on Monday.
However the IMF urged the Senegalese authorities to continue positive macro-economic policies, including promoting private sector investment, reduce overall budget deficit and push for the privatisation of the two state companies that regulate the groundnut and power utility sector.
