Synthetic diarrhoea vaccine for infants

    JOHANNESBURG

    A synthetic vaccine against infant diarrhoea is being tested in Angola, US scientist John Robbins announced during a visit to the Americo Boa Vida hospital in Luanda, PANA reported on Thursday.

    Robbins, accompanied by his colleague Rachel Schnerson, has been in Angola since 18 February at the invitation of the health ministry to study the causes of diarrhoea among Angolan children. While the test results are awaited, there are negotiations between Robbins and Schnerson, the inventors of the vaccine, and Angolan paediatrics
    specialists since the product essentially concerns children. Robbins is
    current head of the Molecular Development and Immunity Department at the US-based National Institute of Health.
