Namibian Defence Force commander for the northern Kavango region, Bernard Nkawa, said on Tuesday two suspected UNITA rebels were shot dead in follow-up operations, PANA said on Wednesday. He said that the men were killed after four Mayana villagers had been murdered by suspected UNITA rebels, about 20 km east of the regional capital, Rundu. He said the men were found about 45 km from the Kavango river in southern Angola where the Namibian Defence Force (NDF) members attacked and killed two of them. Three others escaped the attack.
