Nigeria, China to set up disease control centre

Nigeria and China have agreed to set up a centre where the use of Chinese techniques in the treatment of infectious tropical diseases would be promoted, Nigeria’s ‘This Day’ newspaper reported on Friday. The centre, to cost US $100,000, will be jointly funded by Nigeria’s Ministry of Science and Technology and the Chinese government, the newspaper said. It will focus on improving diagnostic techniques by borrowing from Chinese experience and technology for the local manufacture and application of diagnostic reagents, the newspaper added.
