Dispute between communities flares up again

Fifty homes were burnt and several people wounded on Tuesday during clashes between the neighbouring communities of Oku-Ibo and Ikot Offiong in the southern Nigerian state of Akwa Ibom, the BBC reported. It said the immediate cause of the confrontation could not be confirmed but that the two communities had fought before over land. Previous clashes had claimed several lives and property was destroyed. No deaths were reported in Tuesday’s clash, according to BBC.
