A week-long strike at one of Nigeria’s leading daily newspapers has ended, AFP reported. Employees of ‘The Guardian’ of Lagos had gone on strike after two union leaders were dismissed while pressing for higher wages. They are to be reinstated, AFP said on Friday. Negotiations on pay and other issues are to get underway. The president of the Nigeria Labour Congress, Adams Oshiomhole, ordered the strike on 4 September after the company’s management refused to recall the dismissed workers.
