More than 20 die in clashes

At least 25 people were killed in clashes between Arab and African groups in west Sudan in recent days, AFP quoted reported on Monday. Quoting the a report from Ginaina, the capital of West Darfur State in the daily ‘Al-Ayam’, it said 16 people were killed in clashes in the past two days in Kebkabiyah, Gulu and Trinte in the western parts of the state. It added that nine other people were killed last week in fighting between Zaghawah and Arab Gumur tribes in nearby Kulbus area. Quoting a regional government source, the daily said senior executives and security officials rushed from the regional capital to the scene and brought the situation under control. The paper did not give reasons for the incidents, and no official statement has been issued confirming the press report.
