Influx of new IDPs

WFP said in its latest situation report this week that an estimated 15,897 new internally displaced persons (IDPs) have arrived in Kuito in Bie Province in the central highlands from Cambandua, Chicala, Gamba, Chinguar and Cuningha. “The current displacement is due to continued insecurity reported in the above mentioned communities,” WFP said. It added that the number of new IDPs in Sanza Pombo, in the northern province of Uige, has continued to rise. “Some 11,299 new IDPs fleeing insecurity in Buengas, Milunga and Quimbele, arrived Sanza Pombo ... An emergency kitchen to address the malnutrition cases amongst the new arrivals has been set up by WFP and the Catholic Mission,” the report said.
