Seven embassies to close

Burundi is to close seven diplomatic missions abroad, the foreign ministry announced on Tuesday. In a press statement, it said the move was aimed at reducing expenditure. The private Azania news agency quoted opposition parties as saying Bujumbura was "redefining its map of diplomatic activity in the world". "The prospect of an accord in
Arusha...has certainly got a lot to do with it," one FRODEBU member said.
