Each day Lungi clinic, just north of Freetown, cares for a growing number of former combatants, their dependents and IDPs, the Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) said in its 1-2 June situation report.
OCHA quotes the International Medical Corps (IMC) as saying that, on average, the clinic treats 120 patients daily.
Meanwhile, the IMC said IDPs at the Port Loko camp now exceeded 11,000 with more still coming. Recently, the camp held 5,000 people. Its clinic is now seeing over 150 people a day, most of whom suffer acute respiratory infection due to poor living conditions and from long stays in the bush before. Malaria and some trauma cases make up the other medical conditions, OCHA reported.
