Petrol tanker explosion kills two peacekeepers

Two soldiers were killed and four other injured after a tanker exploded on Wednesday in Lower River Division, an administrative region of Gambia, AFP reported hospital sources as saying on Thursday. The two victims, from Gambia and Guinea-Bissau, were part of a contingent of 150 soldiers due to be sent to Sierra Leone as part of an Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) peacekeeping force. Gambia has asked for a inquiry into the accident, which took place during joint military exercises involving Guinea-Bissau and Gambia, AFP reported sources in Dakar as saying.
