Zimbabwe considering troop withdrawal

    NAIROBI
    The government of Zimbabwe indicated publicly for the first time on Thursday that it was considering a phased withdrawal of its troops from the DRC, possibly within coming weeks. But a defence ministry spokesman told IRIN that an end to Zimbabwe's controversial intervention in support of the DRC government of President Laurent-Desire Kabila would be linked to the military situation on the ground and the deployment of UN peacekeepers.
