Malaria warning

    JOHANNESBURG

    The World Health Organisation (WHO) in Windhoek has advised visitors and the Namibian public to protect themselves against malaria, especially if they were travelling to the northeast and northwest of the country.

    WHO said in a statement that the risk of malaria had increased because of the recent heavy rains and floods over large parts of southern Africa. WHO said that April was a period of high malaria transmission and there was a "high potential for malaria epidemics".
