General Augustin Ndindiyilimana, former chief of staff of the Rwandan gendarmerie nationale, on Thursday pleaded not guilty to 10 counts of genocide and crimes against humanity at the International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda (ICTR). In a press release, the Arusha-based ICTR said he entered the plea at his initial appearance before Judge Pavel Dolenc.
The accused - who is charged with planning the massacre of Tutsis and moderate Hutus in 1994 - was extradited from Belgium earlier this month.
