Radar project launched

President Kagame last week launched a radar project in Kigali, aimed at reinforcing air traffic control and management of Rwanda's air space, Rwandan radio reported. The project includes transferring radar technology to Rwanda and providing training for Rwandan technicians and engineers.

The Rwanda News Agency (RNA) quoted Kagame as noting that Rwanda had been solely dependent on monitoring carried out by the Tanzanian Civil Aviation Authority for any aircraft flying above 25,000 feet. "With this radar system, the long-desired services of air traffic control, flight information services, general alert and surveillance services can now be achieved for Rwanda," he said.
