Angola has signed an agreement with the International Monetary Fund (IMF), which will allow it to implement broad economic reforms, news reports said.
The agreement signed earlier this week is said to include slashing state spending, expansion of investment on infrastructure and welfare, liberalising foreign trade and speeding up the privatisation of certain state assets.
Finance Minister Joaquim David was quoted as saying that the planned economic reforms were aimed at "reducing poverty and integrating Angola as much as possible into the world economy".
