Thirteen children were killed and scores injured after an Antonov dropped six bombs on Tuesday afternoon in the compound of Kaouda elementary school in the Nuba mountains. SPLM/A spokesman Samson Kwaje told IRIN on Wednesday that the Antonov also dropped four bombs on the surrounding village. He said the school catered for some 600 pupils, aged between 6-13 years. "The government has done such acts in the past because it wants people to vacate their homes to its peace villages in the government town," he said. However, Sudan's embassy in Nairobi could neither deny nor confirm the incident when contacted by IRIN.
