Construction of technical college in Delta planned

    ABIDJAN
    The government has approved a 50-million-naira (US $515,597) grant to establish a school on Bonny Island, Rivers State, in the volatile Niger Delta region, Radio Nigeria reported Information Minister Dapo Sarumi as saying. "The establishment of this technical college is primarily to engage the youths in profitable ventures and divert their attention from violence," Sarumi said. Oil exports from the region have been disrupted repeatedly by violent youth protests, including sabotage and kidnapping.
