Farmers carry out threat to burn cocoa

Farmer burnt some 20,000 mt of cocoa beans over the weekend in protest over low world prices, the government daily `Fraternite Matin' reported on Tuesday. Some 5,000 mt were destroyed at Daoukro, double that amount at Gagnoa where the farmers and exporters joined forces and a little over 5,000 mt at San Pedro and Soubre, the newspaper quoted Kassy Henri Amouzou, secretary of the Collective of Cocoa and Coffee Farmers, as saying.
