Commonwealth leaders say they are worried about Angola

Commonwealth leaders say they are “gravely concerned over the continuing suffering of the people of Angola.” In a final communiqué, they “urged the international community to increase as a matter of urgency, humanitarian assistance, especially to displaced persons.” The communiqué added that the leaders “recognising that UNITA is largely responsible for the breakdown of the peace process”, called on the international community to fully support and respect the implementation of the United Nations Security Council Sanctions imposed on the rebel movement.
