Official media condemns France, Cote d’Ivoire

Angola’s state media has accused the governments of France and Cote d’Ivoire of supporting the UNITA rebel movement. State television TPA on Monday criticised the “growing presence of Savimbi (supporters) in Paris, which is a contravention of the sanctions imposed by the United Nations on UNITA.” TPA said that one of Savimbi’s sons, Aurelio Sakaito, who recently defected to the government side, carries an Ivorian passport. Meanwhile, military cooperation between Angola and Zimbabwe is set to strengthen with a planned three-day visit to Luanda on Tuesday by Zimbabwe’s Defence Minister Moven Mahachi, news reports said.
