Journalist banned from leaving country

The Angolan government of Eduardo Jose dos Santos has banned the managing editor of an independent weekly from leaving the country after he was interrogated several times, news reports said on Monday. William Tonet of 'Folha Oito' was notified of the ban on Saturday by emigration authorities after being questioned about alleged defamation and spreading news endangering state security, the reports added. Gilberto Neto, one of Tonet's editors, was called in with his boss for questioning by criminal investigators last week.
