A Portuguese company has been granted Mozambique's first diamond
prospecting license in the country's mineral rich northern province of Niassa, African Eye News Service reported on Thursday. The company, TAMEGA, was granted the license after preliminary seismic studies conducted in January indicated that commercially viable diamond deposits could exist in the region.
