Sub-Saharan Africa to prioritise mental health

And, delegates at the WHO Africa meeting on Wednesday adopted a resolution to place higher importance on mental health in the region. According to news reports the resolution adopted urged member states to "formulate or review legislation in support of mental health and the prevention and control of substance abuse." WHO regional advisor for mental health, Custodia Mandlhate, was quoted as saying that "the issue has been neglected before with some of the countries not even taking it into account because they are dealing with killing diseases and mental health is not killing people."
