A 13-member team from the Carter Centre has praised Mozambique's voter registration process after spending 10 days monitoring the process in 10 of the country's 11 provinces, media reports said.
The Carter Centre, an international NGO run by former US president Jimmy Carter, said its delegation found a healthy turnout of would-be voters, particularly women, at the registration posts. "The members of the registration brigades seemed well-trained, efficient and dedicated to their work," a delegation spokesman said.
The delegation, however, noted that the registration process still faces logistical difficulties, including lack of transportation and communications facilities.
Mozambique's registration process started on 20 July for parliamentary and presidential elections scheduled in early December.
