Angola pledges to withdraw from DRC

Angolan President Jose Eduardo dos Santos said this week that Angolan forces would be withdrawn from the neighbouring Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) as soon as UN peacekeeping forces arrive, according to an official Angolan radio report on Tuesday. The report, monitored by the BBC, said he made the remarks on Monday at a joint news conference with the Nigerian leader, Olusegun Obasanjo, during his first presidential visit to Angola.
