Inflation surges to a new record

Consumer inflation for June jumped by two percent to a record high of 55 percent, media reports said on Wednesday. Food price increases accounted for an estimated 24 percent of the rise, with non-food items accounting for 30 percent. According to economists, Zimbabwe's inflation is expected to peak at over 60 percent in the third quarter of this year. Zimbabwe's economy is expected to grow by an estimated 1.5 percent this year.
