Nkomo's successor

Meanwhile, Zimbabwe's ruling party will name a successor to late vice-president Joshua Nkomo at its congress at the end of the year, after taking into account the outcome of a constitutional review process, Reuters quoted Mugabe as saying. "It is up to the congress to decide the way forward on the issue of succession and also taking note of the changes that may come after the constitutional review," Mugabe told local journalists late on Wednesday. Mugabe controversially appointed a 400-member commission to write Zimbabwe's first post-independence constitution in April. The commission is expected to present its ideas to him by November.
