Doctors threaten strike

    JOHANNESBURG
    Junior doctors in Zimbabwe's state hospitals have threatened to strike if their salaries and working conditions are not reviewed, news reports said. A spokesman for the doctors was quoted as saying the equivalent of US $342.10 they receive is "paltry". "We provide essential services to the nation and we deserve better salaries in order to live decently," the spokesman said. "We have held marathon but unfruitful meetings last week with the permanent secretary in the ministry of health and child welfare," he added.
