Chinese and African officials are meeting for a summit in Beijing that is expected to yield pledges for aid, training and debt relief for Africa.

Oxford Analytica reckons Africa could learn from China's anti-poverty achievements (Africa can learn from China on poverty).

“While the analogy should not be overstretched, China does offer some important lessons for Africa's anti-poverty efforts, particularly in respect of domestic policy reforms,” Oxford Analytica says, adding “a clear political commitment to fighting poverty, strong state institutions implementing supportive and pragmatic policies (especially for raising agricultural productivity), and widespread access to sound basic education and healthcare are among the essential requirements for success.”
