Crises and Trends to Watch: Midyear update

Every year, at the start of the year, The New Humanitarian publishes a list of Ten humanitarian crises and trends to watch. This list compiles the crises and trends that have the attention of our editorial team – and we believe should demand the attention of our readers. In 2023, we wanted to take a deeper look at some of the crises and trends on our list, and get insights from the people reporting on these issues.

We invited some of our reporters and editorial staff to take part in a series of online conversations with you, our readers, about how the crises on our list are playing out and evolving. What’s changed? How are dynamics shifting? What did we miss? What should we be looking at now? Watch the recordings below.

We're able to host events like these for free thanks to the support of our donors and members. Become a member of The New Humanitarian and help keep quality journalism about crises free and accessible for all.
