Work on major road begins

Construction has begun on a road linking Abomey, Bohicon and Ketou, the Benin daily, ‘Le Matinal’, reported on Monday. Work on the 84-km highway, which is due for completion in 36 months, started on Thursday in Bohicon, a town 100 km north of Cotonou. The project, subsidised by Denmark, is expected to cost US $49 million. A government official present at the ceremony marking the start of construction, Bruno Amoussou, said the road would ease interstate contacts, ‘Le Matinal’ added.
