Army retakes central town from UNITA

    JOHANNESBURG
    The Angolan army claimed on Thursday that it had recaptured the town of Cuima in the central Huambo province from the UNITA rebel movement. AFP quoted the army as saying that it had also destroyed a UNITA base in Caala and had captured Tchidinji, about 100 west of Huambo. Meanwhile, ‘Jornal de Angola’ reported on Thursday that the fighting in Tchidinji had forced about 100 families to abandon their villages.
