24 reportedly killed in Masisi area

The rebel Rassemblement congolais pour la democratie (RCD-Goma) says 24 people were killed by suspected Interahamwe militiamen at Masisi, near Goma, on Sunday. According to rebel-controlled Goma radio, the authorities met in nearby Sake on Tuesday to discuss the situation of hundreds of people who had fled there following the Masisi attack in which 46 houses were also torched. The authorities told local journalists that some 300 attackers, “armed with machine-guns and ordinary weapons”, had raided villages in the Masisi area.
