Recent flows bring refugees in RoC to 35,000

In addition to the 10,000-12,000 refugees arriving in Liranga and Njoundou - mostly in the past two weeks as a result of the resumption of attacks and counter-attacks between the MLC and the Forces armees congolaises (FAC) - there are another 19,000 or so refugees from the Equateur fighting settled further along the Ubangui River, north of Impfondo, in the Republic of Congo. The UNHCR has also estimated there are between 5,000 and 10,000 more refugees in wholly inaccessible areas along the river border area, bringing the overall total of DRC refugees in northern RoC to between 35,000 and 40,000, Redmond told journalists.
