Logistics support approved

A two-year expansion of a special operation providing logistics support for humanitarian activities in Sierra Leone has been approved, WFP said in its emergency report dated 14 July. The operation, whose expansion will cost some US $4.7 million, includes repairing about 425 km of secondary and tertiary roads in the southern and eastern provinces and rehabilitating the Mabang Bridge, some 50 km from Freetown. It also includes buying equipment for the Sierra Leone Roads Authority, purchasing a special equipment vehicle and rehabilitating port facilities in Freetown, WFP reported.
