Denmark’s funds electoral process

    Of this, seven billion cedis (US $1.2 million) will enable the commission to buy election materials such as cards, cameras and film, Danish Ambassador Ole Blicher-Olsen told the newspaper on Thursday. He said the remaining money would go to seven institutions - among them civil society bodies - to enhance their election-related activities. These will include observation, voter education, training of reporters and “enhanced participation of female and rural voters in the democratic process”.

    The seven institutions are the International Federation of Women Lawyers (FIDA), GHANALERT, the Ghana Legal Literacy Research Foundation, the Media Foundation for West Africa, International PEN, School of Communication Studies and the Department of Political Science of the University of Ghana.
