Party asks Rwigema to resign

    NAIROBI
    Rwigema’s own party, the Mouvement democratique republicain (MDR), said it had asked him to resign as party leader. In a press release, reported by Rwandan radio on Wednesday, the MDR said it disagreed with Rwigema’s comments which were “based on outdated ideologies...which later led to the 1994 genocide”. The party claimed Rwigema’s decision to live in exile was for “personal reasons”.
