New pipeline fire blamed on armed youths

A new pipeline fire has been reported in Ororokpe, 16 km from the southern Nigerian town of Warri in Delta State, ‘The Guardian’ said on Tuesday. Officials of the Pipeline Products Marketing Company (PPMC), which owns the pipeline, said the fire was caused by vandalised pipes. However, PPMC officials said armed youths prevented them from going to the site to inspect the damage, according to ‘The Guardian’. Meanwhile, PPMC officials on Monday began repairing broken pipelines in two other Niger Delta locations where fires broke out at the weekend, AFP reported.
