Wamba suspends opponents

The leader of the Bunia-based Rassemblement congolais pour la democratie-Mouvement de liberation (RCD-ML), Ernest Wamba dia Wamba, has suspended two leading officials accusing them of mutiny, rebel-controlled Radio Candip in Bunia reported on Saturday. According to a decree issued by Wamba, the two - general commissar Mbusa Nyamwisi and deputy general commissar Ateenyi Tibasima - were suspended “in view of their clear involvement in the organisation of a mutiny in the Armee populaire congolaise [Wamba’s army] in conjunction with negative forces”. The decree stated that these actions constituted “high treason and a total disengagement from the movement’s objectives”. The two have been claiming that Wamba lacks popular support in the Bunia region.
