Plans afoot to export 15 mt of potatoes to Oman

Rwanda plans to export 15 mt of Irish potatoes to Oman in October, PANA reported on Tuesday. The agency quoted Maurice Wiener of the USAID-assisted Association for the Promotion of Agriculture in Rwanda (ADAR) as saying that Rwanda hoped to export the Victoria variety that can be stored for six weeks under moderate conditions. He added that ADAR also sought to encourage the production and export of coffee, tea, passion fruit, ornamental flowers and other horticultural products. Rwanda, recovering from a genocidal war that ended in 1994, is cash-strapped. The country produces the high grade Arabica coffee which is much valued by connoisseurs.
