Ethiopia to import Sudanese oil

An oil supply agreement between Ethiopia and Sudan will be put into effect next January, the Sudanese news agency SUNA reported on Thursday. Ethiopia will be supplied with Sudanese petroleum products by road when a highway linking the two countries is finished later this year, the Sudanese Minister of Energy and Mining, Dr Awad Ahmad Al-Jaz told SUNA after returning from a three-day official visit to Ethiopia. Dr. Awad said he had also discussed with Ethiopian officials ways of linking the electric power networks of the two countries so as to allow Sudan to benefit from surplus hydroelectric power generated in Ethiopia.
