Presidents express sorrow over US attacks

The Presidents of Eritrea and Ethiopia have expressed their profound sorrow at the terrorist attacks in America on Tuesday and sent their condolences to the American people. “I wish to express to the American people ... our profound sorrow on behalf of the people and government of Eritrea,” President Isayas Afewerki said on Wednesday on official radio. President Afewerki’s statement went on to express confidence that “the perpetrators of this appalling crime will be hunted down and punished”. In a message of condolence to US President George Bush Ethiopian President Negasso Gidada said, “no words would be adequate to express our anger over this senseless terrorist attack,” the pro-government Walta Information Center said yesterday. The Walta Information Center also quoted Ethiopian prime Minister Meles Zenawi who described the attack as “cowardly and senseless.
