Police chief, interior minister elected to head regional body

Rwandan police Commissioner-General Frank Mugambage was elected head of the East African Police Chiefs Committee (EAPCC) during a meeting that concluded last week, Radio Rwanda announced on Thursday in Kigali. This most recent gathering of police chiefs and ministers responsible for the police from eastern African countries was part of ongoing efforts to coordinate regional efforts to fight crime. Meanwhile, Rwandan Minister for Internal Affairs Jean de Dieu Ntiruhungwa was elected chairman of the regional ministers committee. The next meeting of the organisation is to be held in Tanzania next year.
