Three killed, six wounded in attack

Three people were killed and six others wounded by armed groups on Monday-Tuesday night during an attack on a military post in Nkondo on the eastern side of Mount Samvura, Mabanda commune, southern Burundi, Burundi news agency ABP reported on Wednesday. The dead included and soldier and two civilians. It quoted Mabanda communal administrator, Emmanuel Mbinga as saying that of the six wounded civilians, two were evacuated on Tuesday to a Bujumbura hospital by the medical NGO Medecins Sans Frontieres (MSF). The assailants also took with them property belonging to the residents who had lately become used to sleeping near the military post. He said that the Nkondo area was a privileged corridor for armed groups who shuttle between Misurwa in Nyanza-Lac commune, southeastern Burundi and Nyarubanga in Kibago commune southeastern Burundi.
