Five rebels released

Five members of the Parti pour la liberation du peuple hutu-Forces nationales de liberation (PALIPEHUTU-FNL) were released on Friday by Burundi’s judicial system and put on probation, Burundi news agency Net Press reported. The five men, were reportedly arrested on 10 April 2000, in Bujumbura Rural province, northwestern Burundi for “being part of armed gangs”. The five men, one from Ryansoro commune in Gitega province, central Burundi and the rest from Kanyosha commune, Bujumbura Rural province, left Mpimba prison on Friday afternoon.
